What do you do if it’s both a rainy day AND a Monday? Do you get double down? Or do you flip back ’round to up? These are the questions that haunt me. These are the days of our lives. Also, what do you do when Daylight Saving Time has you straight trippin’? I’m so stinking tired, since my body technically woke up at 4:15 this morning. And technically fell asleep around 11:45. It’s like the government just likes to… Read more »

Greetings, Earthlings. What it do? I had a pretty fabulous weekend. Saturday was full of writing, weeping, and gnashing of teeth until I finally published a little short story. You can read it here, if you want. I spent the rest of the day with my Valentine. We went out to dinner at Black Walnut Cafe, which is where we had our first date. And where we went last Valentine’s Day. Neither of us can remember what we did for… Read more »

You know that phrase “back in the swing of things?” I guess that’s where I am. Kind of. I still have some house unpacking to do, and, yes, the Christmas tree to take down, but I also have three and a half more seasons of Gilmore Girls to watch and books to read, etc., etc. Speaking of reading books (queen of the segue!), I think I’ve stumbled into a quiet time that will work for me. I told y’all before… Read more »

You guys. I had the best weekend ever. It’s only due to this being the week of Christmas (and thusly a two day work week, hollaaaaaa) that I’m remotely able to sit here with a smile on my face. It was filled with friends and music and laughter and Christmas things, which are the best things. Friday night after work, I went to my dear friend Whip’s apartment, where we drank bubbly, feasted on olives, charcuterie, and cheese. She gave… Read more »

I’m trying to keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side. Keep on the sunny side of life. BUT… it’s Monday. And I’m cold and tired and my coffee is just a touch too far away from my reach, so I’m going to have to lean. Ugh. Okay, I’m really not that grumpy. But today is the first day of my deadline week, and I know it’s going to be a doozy. This too shall pass. This weekend was… Read more »

Bad news. THE house went swiftly into the good night before we could even see it. On the market two days. Sigh. Our Realtor said it assuredly went into a bidding war and therefore above asking price. So that alleviated some of the pain. Good news: Our former and now again first choice is still there, so the current plan is to see one more house on Saturday, and then revisit the current #1. And perhaps we’ll make a little… Read more »

Bonjour! You might have noticed a little facelift around here. We’re all welcome. I spent most of Monday redesigning some things around here. It felt good. Mostly the couch part, but I guess the design work was nice too. I kid, but I was so pooped! Saturday morning I woke up and picked up my little bro and we began our yearly tradition of going back-to-school shopping for him. I’ve taken him pretty much since I could drive and our… Read more »

That was a Sufjan Stevens reference. Annoyed eye roll if you didn’t pick up on it. Just kidding, I love you. Anyway, the trip to Chicago was amazinggggg. So here’s a photo-dump. There was architecture:   There was art:   My little brother told me this was Voldemort: There was food: There was booze: There was the facing of fears that was the Willis Tower Sky Deck and a ghost tour. The Sky Deck was much more terrifying. Tell me… Read more »

Hola, mes amigos! No, I don’t speak Spanish, why do you ask? I have a whole lot of nothing to talk about today. So get excited. First of all, next Friday my brothers and husband and I are departing for Chicago! How is it already almost August?!?? I’m barfing. I was going to qualify that statement, but it’s funnier how it is. I’m barfing. Anywho, my baby brother turned 16 in February (I know. I know), so my other brother… Read more »

Y’all. It’s July. JULY. What the? Today is my parents’ wedding anniversary, so happy anniversary, Mama and Daddy! 31st year, I do believe. That’s incredible. The older I get, the more I appreciate my parents’ wedding anniversary. I don’t think I ever really knew what a wedding anniversary was. I was never the little girl who played pretend that I was getting married. I would just skip right to the playing house part. I was a flower girl for my… Read more »
