Good (?) Morning, my peeps!

I hope your weekend was fabulous. My poor wittle husband became sick Saturday night, so yesterday was a bit mopey for us. Hopefully I avoid catching the cold, since this week begins my crazy monthly deadline. Glory be, however, for it is a short week, thanks to FREEDOM. And you best believe I am going to lavishly enjoy my three day weekend. I can taste it already.

Anyway, I thought I’d talk about something near and dear to my heart– lipstick. Summer-appropriate shades of lipsticks to be specific. While I do hold the makeup philosophy of “wear whatever you want, whenever you want,” I myself tend to change everything up a bit each season. Without further ado, lipsticks:

1) Pink. Really, Pink is gorgeous in any month. So feminine, and can look natural or shocking. I find it especially magnificent in the spring and summer months. Below are some of my favorite shades:

Lime Crime Pink Velvet Velvetine. I don’t have this shade, but I have stalked it on the internet. Gorgeous. And long, long lasting. Perfect for sweaty summers.

MAC Angel. I don’t have this shade, but it’s the gorgeous baby pink/nude of your dreams. Kim Kardashian is known for wearing it with her dramatic fake eyelashes eye makeup.

MAC Candy Yum Yum. Don’t less this picture fool you. This is the brightest, most neon matte pink I’ve ever seen. My brothers hate when I wear it, because it literally screams at your eyes, in the best way possible.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Obsessed. I don’t have this shade, but it is a stunning mid-pink. Perfect for effortless, more natural looks.

YSL Rouge Volupte in 29 Opera Rose. This lipstick. This stupid lipstick with its ridiculous price tag. I treated myself one day, and this has become MY lipstick. I get compliments every time I wear it. Which means I’ll eventually have to splurge on another tube. Sigh. First World Problems.

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense 32. I found and used this lipstick for a dear friend’s wedding, and I afterwards went out and bought a tube for myself, since I let her keep hers as a wedding present. It’s the perfect neutral pink that’s still rosy enough to lend color to your face. Gorgeous. And the formula is long-lasting, great for summer.

2) Fuchsia. Fuchsia is the red of summer to me. It’s intense, pigmented, and perfect for a night out. Here are some of my favorites.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Jilted. Here’s a selfie of me wearing it. IT is GORGEOUS. One of my favorite evening-wear choices. Not that I go anywhere ever anymore. It’s definitely on the bluer side of fuchsia, which is what makes it unique in my collection.

MAC Girl About Town. A cult favorite. Google “MAC Girl About Town dupes” and you can find some budget-friendly substitutes for this classic shade.

Revlon Colorburst Balmstain in Lovesick. Don’t let this whackadoodle picture fool you. This miiiiiight be a pink, but it’s blue enough and gorgeous enough that I’m calling it a fuchsia. Deal with it.

Revlon Superlustrous Lipstick in Sultry Samba is so beautiful. I love it. You will too.

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Adrenaline was my first foray into fuchsia. And I never looked back. This is one of my favorite lip products of all time. This particular shade is on the warm/pink/red side of fuchsia, but it’s gorgeous forever. Get it.

3) Orange.Orange lipstick was made for summer, in my opinion. It is warm and sunshiney. And is a little too pumpkin-y in the fall. Here are some of my favorite oranges:

MAC Morange. Besides the fact that I say this “More-ah-nj” but I think it might be “More-nge,” this is another favorite. It’s perfectly mid-range (Mirange?), not too tangerine, not to red-orange.

MAC Morange.

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense 40 hits a little closer to the tangerine side of the equation, but it still flattering on all skin tones. Love it. Want it. Get in the cart.

NARS Heat Wave is a true red-orange. But that makes it a perfect night out shade. It’s stunning.

Revlon Superlustrous Lipstick in Siren. This is way brighter than the website would have you believe. It’s my first/only orange and It’s amazingly bright. Also cheap. Winning!

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Punch Drunk is the product I never knew I needed. I passed it by so many times. And now, look at it. So creamy. So gorgeous. So much more than meets the eye.

And that’s about all I’m thinking about today. If you need any research, google “[lipstick name] swatch” and you will find what each one looks like on actual lips.

Have the best Monday possible!
